INTRODUCTION OF EPOXY RESIN

Epoxy resin is a kind of thermosetting (solid) resin. When main agent is blended with the hardener of appropriate ratio, after cross linkage for hardening, a network structure of three-dimensional space is formed. Therefore, this product has equipped with a special physical property, mechanical property, and chemicals-resistant, etc.

The main agent of Epoxy resin generally comes from epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A (or its equivalent derivative) after getting through an appropriate reaction and ploymerization, the main agent product of Epoxy resin with differrnt molecular weights can be obtained, and its main reaction is as follows:

When n=0, its molecular weight is 340g/mole. and when n=10, then its molecular weight is 3000g/mole. Therefore, the size of molecular weight is decided by the number of n. Generally, there are following six properties can be based on to choose the Epoxy resin:

1. Viscosity. 2. Epoxy equivalent. 3. Oxyhdrogen equivalent. 4. Average molecular weight and its distribution. 5. Softening point. 6. Temperature of heat deformation after erosslinkage.

If matched to the requirements of operation for the user, to use of appropriate hardener and accelerator, then the most ideal product of Epoxy resin can be achieved.
